The aim of the thesis was to create a mobile application that helps athletes and hikers monitor the routes they cover. The application was developed for Android mobile devices using the Android Studio environment and the Kotlin programming language. Based on the changing coordinates provided by the device’s GPS receiver, the route is drawn on the screen and statistics such as the distance covered, duration and average speed are displayed. Routes are saved locally or in an external database, depending on internet availability. By logging in to the same account, users can access their routes from multiple devices. Routes saved without internet access can be uploaded to the database after logging in. The main feature distinguishing the project from commercial applications is that it works correctly even without internet access. In that case, the route is drawn on a plain background instead of a map, but it is still possible to check its shape or to return to the starting point.
