The aim of the thesis was to design and implement an application that detects licence plates and determines their position. The application developed makes it possible to detect plates, determine their edges and estimate the distance between the plate and the camera. Potential use cases are presented, together with tests verifying the correctness of both the plate detection and the estimation of the distance to the plate.
The application was developed in Java, using the OpenALPR library for plate detection and the OpenCV library for image processing.
